Findings: International Students

Close to 30% of participants were international students. International students raised a number of unique concerns and stressors. This included concerns around visa arrangements and whether any support extended to GR students, such as extensions, would also be reflected in their visa. What stood out most in the narratives of international students though was the worry of being away from family members. Participants outlined how they had family members at high-risk back at home and they constantly worried about their health and wellbeing. A number of participants also identified an uptick in racism directed towards them, and how this was causing both anxiety as well as challenges with finding stable housing.

“I have constant feelings of anxiety because my family is far away from me in Europe. I fear that I can't even say goodbye to some family members who might die.”
